About Hylton-Rodic Law

Hylton-Rodic Law (HRL) is a boutique intellectual property law firm helping innovators protect their ideas and build the future. We work with startups, global companies, research institutions, and entrepreneurs across chemistry, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and engineering to secure IP portfolios and manage complex patent strategies.

We’re known for pairing technical expertise with business strategy. Now we’re looking for someone who can help expand our reach and make sure the right clients know what we can do.

About the Role

We are looking for a Sales Development & Intake Specialist who is equal parts opportunity hunter and first-line client guide.

This hybrid role combines the proactive lead generation of a Sales Development Representative with the consultative intake skills of a client-facing specialist. You’ll source opportunities, build relationships, and convert inbound interest into new matters—while maintaining impeccable follow-up and CRM discipline.

If you’re a natural connector who thrives on metrics and loves to turn conversations into action, this is your stage.

What You’ll Do

Outbound Growth & Lead Generation
• Research, identify, and connect with decision-makers at corporations, research institutions, VC firms, and startups.
• Build and manage a high-quality pipeline in science-driven industries (chemistry, pharma, biotech).
• Coordinate with marketing to align messaging and campaigns.
• Secure HRL’s presence at conferences, webinars, and industry events to expand visibility.
• Track all outreach in CRM and consistently hit KPIs for calls, messages, and booked meetings.

Inbound Intake & Conversion
• Respond quickly and professionally to new inquiries (email, phone, web).
• Qualify leads, guide them through structured intake, and convert them into scheduled consultations or retained clients.
• Use proven sales techniques (like RAIN) to address questions, build rapport, and move prospects forward.
• Keep meticulous CRM notes and ensure follow-ups happen on time.

Requirements

What You Bring
• 3-5+ years of experience in business development, professional sales, lead generation (professional services or legal/consulting background preferred).
• A proven record in both outbound prospecting and inbound lead conversion.
• Clear, confident communication skills—with the judgment to tailor tone to scientists, executives, and legal professionals alike.
• CRM expertise (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar).
• Ability to travel locally/regionally for events and conferences.
• A self-directed, goal-oriented work style—remote and independent, but never siloed.
• Curiosity and persistence—you enjoy building relationships and following threads to results.

Key Measures of Success
• Monthly outreach volume and connection rates
• Qualified meetings and consultations booked
• Lead-to-client conversion rate
• CRM accuracy and responsiveness to inquiries
• Event participation and pipeline impact

Compensation & Benefits
• Base Salary: $40,000 – $80,000/year (depending on experience) plus performance bonuses
• Professional development opportunities, event attendance, and industry training
• Health and wellness benefits package

Why Join HRL
• Be on the front lines of a fast-growing IP law firm shaping the next wave of innovation
• Gain exposure to the intersection of law, science, and business strategy
• Enjoy a collaborative environment where your ideas can directly impact firm growth
• Competitive base salary with performance incentives

How to Apply

Submit your resume and a brief cover letter telling us:
• Why you want to be part of HRL’s growth story
• A time you identified an opportunity others missed
• How you stay informed about market trends

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
