About the Role As a Patient Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in identifying, analyzing, and addressing patient safety concerns across our organization. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers, patients, and families, to gather and evaluate information, conduct investigations, and implement improvements. Key Responsibilities Reviews and analyzes details of risk/patient safety events, grievances, and other feedback events to facilitate resolution, education, and future process improvements Conducts thorough investigations and analysis of adverse events, workplace violence incidents, and drug diversion cases Responds to Attorney General and 3rd Party Payor Insurance Complaints, and assists with Licensed Provider Board Complaints and Litigation Discovery Provides consultative, educational, and resource services to the organization, promoting a culture of safety and excellence Participates in performance improvement teams and collaborates with stakeholders to drive quality initiatives Other duties as assigned, supporting the organization's mission and goals Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A minimum of 3 years of Registered Nurse experience, preferably in an ambulatory or acute care setting A current license with the appropriate State Board of Nursing (may be required to hold multiple state licensures depending on work locations) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal A high level of customer service skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience using electronic medical documentation systems or database systems Skills and Competencies To excel as a Patient Safety Specialist, you will need: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders A commitment to patient-centered care and a passion for improving patient outcomes The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and responsibilities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Essentia Health, we are dedicated to supporting the growth and development of our employees.
