Your role will focus on extracting and converting assetsâsuch as models, textures, animations, configuration files, and data tables. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with raw binary data, uncovering undocumented structures, and building tools to make this data accessible in open formats.In this role, you'll reverse engineer file formatsâpulling out everything from textures and models to internal config files and data tables. Youâll build tools (in whatever language you're comfortable with) to extract and convert assets into open, usable formats like JSON, PNG, glTF, and more.What youâll be doing:Reverse engineering file formatsâarchives, containers, binaries, custom tablesExtracting and converting assets: 3D models, textures, animations, etc.Converting internal config files and data tables into structured formats like JSONWriting small, focused tools or scripts to automate your workDocumenting what you find so others can use it or build on itWhat weâre looking for:Experience reverse engineering file formats or binary data structuresA solid grasp of how assets and data are structuredComfortable working without documentation or clear specsExperience with PC gamesBonus if youâve worked with modding tools, asset converters, or fan-made extractorsAbility to work during US/Eastern hoursNice to have (but not required):Knowledge of texture formats (like DDS, KTX), or 3D formats (glTF, FBX)Experience decoding serialized data (binary blobs, encrypted configs, etc.)Prior contributions to open-source or tooling projectsThis is a 3 month contract role with the possibility of extension
