Job description: Oswego Community Unit School District 308 is currently seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Special Education Teacher Assistant. Special Education Teacher Assistants play a vital role in supporting the academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs of our students as directed by Special Education Teachers.
Successful candidates will have a desire to assist students with specialized needs to achieve their goals and reach their highest potential, knowledge (or the ability to obtain knowledge of) best practices for working with children and young adults that have specialized needs, skill in applying general written and verbal guidance to specific work situations, the ability to lift and move up to thirty pounds without assistance or to assist with lifting and moving up to fifty pounds, and the ability to hold a license with the Illinois State Board of Education within sixty working days of hire.
Selected candidates will receive a competitive salary and benefit package that includes a $14.50 per hour starting rate of pay; participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension plan; winter/spring/summer break off each year; and potential eligibility for stipends associated with lunch/recess supervision, bus duty, and specialized care & handling.
