Remote Tutor for AP Drawing, Art, and Design
Job Description:
We are seeking a Remote Tutor for Advanced Placement (AP) Drawing, Art, and Design to provide comprehensive artistic guidance and academic support to students preparing for these challenging courses. As a tutor, you will work remotely to nurture students' creativity, refine their technical skills, and help them develop portfolios for submission to the AP... exam.
Responsibilities:
? Conduct remote tutoring sessions via video conferencing or online platforms to provide personalized instruction and critique to students enrolled in AP Drawing, Art, and Design courses.
? Assist students in understanding the requirements and expectations of AP Drawing, Art, and Design, including the development of a cohesive portfolio that demonstrates mastery of various artistic techniques and concepts.
? Provide guidance on artistic principles, including composition, perspective, color theory, and design elements, tailored to students' individual artistic styles and interests.
? Offer constructive feedback on students' artworks, helping them identify strengths and areas for improvement while encouraging experimentation and creative exploration.
? Support students in selecting and refining artworks for inclusion in their AP portfolios, ensuring alignment with the breadth and depth requirements set by the College Board.
? Help students develop their artistic voice and conceptual understanding, guiding them through the ideation, development, and execution of original artwork.
? Facilitate discussions on art history, contemporary art practices, and relevant artistic movements to deepen students' contextual understanding and inform their creative process.
? Assist students in documenting their artistic process and writing reflective statements that accompany their portfolio submissions.
? Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages risk-taking, collaboration, and artistic growth.
? Stay informed about the latest developments in art education, including changes to the AP Drawing, Art, and Design curriculum, exam format, and scoring guidelines.
? Communicate regularly with students, parents, and educators to assess progress, address concerns, and provide recommendations for further artistic development.
? Collaborate with other tutors and art educators to develop resources, lesson plans, and enrichment activities tailored to the needs of AP Drawing, Art, and Design students.
? Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field. Advanced degree (Master's or MFA) preferred.
? Previous teaching or tutoring experience in visual arts, particularly in Advanced Placement or college-level courses, is highly desirable.
? Proficiency in a variety of artistic mediums and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital media.
? Strong understanding of art theory, aesthetics, and art historical movements, with the ability to contextualize students' work within broader artistic traditions.
? Excellent communication skills, both verbal and visual, with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback on students' artwork.
? Passion for art education and a commitment to fostering creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression in students.
? Proficiency in using technology for remote tutoring, including video conferencing platforms, digital drawing software, and file-sharing tools.
? Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
? Flexibility to accommodate students' schedules, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
? Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement as a tutor.
