[Remote] Remote Senior SQL Administrator

They are seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to lead the upgrade of SQL Server 2017 to 2022 and support current on-premises VM-based environments, collaborating with infrastructure teams and mentoring other DBAs. Responsibilities • Lead the SQL Server upgrade from 2017 to 2022 in a complex on-premises VM environment. • Maintain and troubleshoot Always On Availability Groups and Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC). • Collaborate with infrastructure teams on VM configurations, storage, and networking. • Support both production and disaster recovery environments. • Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, backup, and restore operations. • Document processes, standards, and upgrade procedures. • Provide on-call support and mentor other DBA contractors. • Ensure proper coordination with server and network teams for Active Directory and DNS configurations. Skills • 7+ years of SQL Server DBA experience in enterprise environments. • Proven experience upgrading SQL Server 2017 to 2022 in a virtualized infrastructure. • Strong expertise with clustering, high availability, and DR strategies in VM environments. • Solid understanding of Hyper-V or VMware. • Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting. • Hands-on experience managing SQL Server on Windows Server (including 2022). • Experience with SQL Server components: SSRS, SSIS, and Analysis Services. • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills. • Familiarity with VM backup/snapshot strategies. • Experience with hybrid disaster recovery solutions (off-site or co-located data centers). • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server licensing strategies. • Experience with monitoring tools such as Redgate®, SolarWinds®, or Sentry One®. • Knowledge of Active Directory in HA setups, including: Cluster Name Object (CNO) requirements for pre-staged SQL Computer Objects. • Delegation of rights to service accounts for dynamic object creation in OUs. • DNS configuration for dynamic updates of SQL listeners and CNOs. Education Requirements • Microsoft DBA Certification (Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent).
