Key Responsibilities As a Remote Prior Authorization Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the necessary care and treatments. Your primary responsibilities will include: Submitting and tracking prior authorization requests via inbound and outbound calls, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Verifying patients' medical insurance eligibility and coverage, staying up-to-date with changing insurance policies and regulations. Communicating effectively with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve any issues and ensure compliance. Maintaining accurate and detailed records of approvals and denials, providing insights to improve the prior authorization process. Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you must have: At least 1 year of experience in medical benefits (prior authorization, insurance verification, or related field). Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance policies, with the ability to stay current with industry developments. Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders. Preferred qualifications include: Call center experience, with a background in handling high-volume calls and resolving customer inquiries. Experience in the healthcare or insurance industry, with a deep understanding of the complexities and nuances of prior authorization processes.
