The Platform Software Engineer will build and operate backend services and shared platform systems, focusing on designing reliable APIs and improving system performance.ResponsibilitiesTake ownership of the successful implementation and delivery of new features and projects using a variety of languages and frameworks such as Golang, Python, and PostgreSQLBuild and maintain data pipelines and tooling powering analytics, operational workflows, and product capabilitiesActively participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of the Happy Returns systemEnforce clean code coding standards and excellent coding practices by conducting thoughtful code reviews and upholding a commitment to testing and maintainabilityLearn from senior engineers, contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuously expand your technical and problem-solving skills as you grow into more complex projectsPartner with Product, Data, and other engineering teams to translate their needs into technical solutionsUse AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and documentation workflowsSupport the health and stability of our systems through thoughtful testing monitoring, and debuggingSkills1-3 years of experience building backend APIs or servicesExperience developing in Go, Python, or another backend languageFamiliarity with databases and data storage technologiesThe ability to efficiently ship clean, maintainable, and well-tested codeA strong interest in joining a highly collaborative environment and working daily with stakeholders across the organizationCuriosity, adaptability and a readiness to explore new technologies, and introduce tools that make the team more effectiveA self-starter mindset with the ability to learn independently and thrive in a fully remote work environmentExpertise in multiple server-side languages such as Go or PythonExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWSExperience with data processing frameworks, ETL/ELT pipelines, or streaming systemsExposure to performance optimization, distributed systems fundamentals, or event-driven architecturesInterest in e-commerce, logistics, developer experience, or building tooling for other engineersCompany OverviewWe take returns personally.
