About Global Services Group

Global Services Group is a critical component of American Express's International Credit & Collections division. With approximately 6,500 colleagues and 2,300 partner colleagues, our team plays a vital role in protecting the company and enabling growth by minimizing financial losses and optimizing collection recoveries. We're committed to supporting our customers in their most vulnerable times, particularly when they're subject to fraud. Our organization is comprised of five groups, including US Credit & Collections, Global Fraud, Global New Accounts, International Credit & Collections, and Global Commercial Credit & Underwriting.

Manager - Legal Affairs: Job Overview

We're seeking an experienced and skilled Manager - Legal Affairs to lead our litigation and collections efforts for American Express's Global Services Group. As a remote position, you'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere while driving critical business outcomes. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the litigation process, from filing complaints to post-judgment remedies, and working closely with administrative staff to achieve successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities


Lead the litigation process, including filing complaints, creating motions, and applying for judgment and post-judgment remedies
Work closely with administrative staff to create vital motions that move litigation towards judgment
Apply for judgment and post-judgment remedies, such as bank levy and wage garnishment
Prepare for trial and apply necessary discovery tools
Introduce business records into evidence and apply the testimony of Custodians of business records
Prioritize multiple cases simultaneously and lead administrative assistants
Stay up-to-date with state, local, and federal rules and regulations regarding credit card debt collection


Minimum Qualifications


Admitted to practice law in the state of Texas
At least 5 years of litigation experience
Thorough knowledge of civil trial litigation, including every step of the legal process from filing a complaint to post-judgment remedies
Ability to work effectively with administrative assistants
Familiarity with FDCPA and other relevant regulations


Preferred Qualifications


Ability to prioritize multiple cases simultaneously and lead administrative assistants
Experience with credit card debt collection and litigation
Strong knowledge of state, local, and federal rules and regulations regarding credit card debt collection

Compensation and Benefits

We're offering a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $155,000 annually, plus bonus and benefits. Our comprehensive benefits package is designed to support your physical, financial, and mental well-being.
