[Remote] DevOps Engineer (Cloud Operations & Security Monitoring)

Zing Recruiting is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the reliability, performance, and security visibility of cloud environments, primarily focusing on AWS. The role involves managing cloud operations, security monitoring, incident response, and automation to ensure a resilient and cost-efficient cloud ecosystem.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Administer and support AWS infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, IAM)
ā¢ Monitor cloud workload health, availability, and performance
ā¢ Manage deployments, configuration changes, and environment provisioning using infrastructure as code and automation
ā¢ Troubleshoot service disruptions, performance issues, and integration failures
ā¢ Optimize cloud resources for cost, performance, and lifecycle management
ā¢ Maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery readiness
ā¢ Monitor cloud security telemetry, logs, and alerts using cloud monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
ā¢ Investigate security events and support incident response
ā¢ Tune detection rules, thresholds, and monitoring dashboards
ā¢ Support vulnerability management, patching, and remediation activities
ā¢ Assist with audits, compliance documentation, and control validation
ā¢ Collaborate with security teams to strengthen cloud security posture
ā¢ Implement automated monitoring, alerting, and remediation workflows
ā¢ Build and maintain operational dashboards and system health reporting
ā¢ Contribute to runbooks, SOPs, and incident response documentation
ā¢ Recommend long-term corrective actions for recurring issues
ā¢ Participate in on-call rotation and post-incident reviews
Skills
ā¢ Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
ā¢ 5ā7+ years operating and supporting workloads in AWS
ā¢ Hands-on experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
ā¢ Strong understanding of networking, IAM, and system administration
ā¢ Experience investigating incidents, troubleshooting outages, and responding to security alerts
ā¢ Familiarity with scripting/automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
ā¢ Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
ā¢ Experience with cloud security services, SIEM, or threat-detection platforms
ā¢ Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
ā¢ Experience with vulnerability scanning and remediation workflows
ā¢ Understanding of compliance frameworks (NIST, CIS, etc.)
ā¢ Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Security Specialty, Security+)
ā¢ Experience hardening cloud services to organizational standards
