[Remote] Clinical Research Data Scientist

The Metis Foundation is seeking a Clinical Research Data Scientist I to support various projects within the Military Cardiovascular Outcomes Research Program (MiCOR) at the Uniformed Services University. The role involves data management and analysis, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and assisting in the creation and maintenance of electronic data capture systems.Responsibilities• Assist in the creation and maintenance of code/syntax related to data management and analysis.• Work with data from research EDC systems (e.g., data quality checks and monitoring, preparation and cleaning, and analyses).• Assist with creation and maintenance of research EDC systems that meet all DoD, Defense Health Agency (DHA), USU, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) IT standards, as well as Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) compliance for applicable research protocols within the MiCOR program.• Aid in the creation and maintenance of documentation pertaining to data flow and management procedures for research protocols within the MiCOR program.• Assist investigators working on the creation and integration of assessments and interventions utilizing current technologies, such as smartphone applications, wearable electrocardiographic monitors, and ambulatory blood pressure recorders.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including investigators inside and outside the MiCOR program, physicians, research coordinators, and program managers, to achieve research goals.• At the direction of the Lead Data Scientist, attend meetings with the research team and other appropriate staff.• At the direction of the Lead Data Scientist, interface with investigators and medical writers on the production/revision of data management and statistical analysis plans for clinical research protocols.Skills• Responsible and self-motivated with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.• Must have experience/familiarity with research data collection and the scientific method.• Must have experience/familiarity with database software (examples include but not limited to: SQL, Oracle, REDCap).• Must have experience/familiarity with modern statistical software (examples include but not limited to: R, Python, SPSS, Stata).• Must be familiar with classical (Supervised / Unsupervised) machine learning methods as well as deep learning architecture.• Must be able to obtain a government issued common access card (CAC).• Some prior experience working with clinical research data or working with cross-functional clinical research teams in an academic or healthcare setting.• Familiarity with relevant standards and policies relevant to clinical research (e.g., HIPAA, FDA CFR, etc.).• Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program) certification for OUSD P&R Human Research (Biomedical Investigators and Research Study Team) preferred, may be obtained upon hire.Education Requirements• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related field is required.Benefits• 401(k)• 401(k) matching• Dental insurance• Employee assistance program• Health insurance• Health savings account• Life insurance• Paid time off• Retirement plan• Vision insuranceCompany Overview• The Metis Foundation provides scientific, educational, financial, and project management support.It was founded in 2014, and is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, USA, with a workforce of 51-200 employees.
