[Remote] Bookkeeper / Controller

They are seeking a client-facing Bookkeeper / Controller who will manage bookkeeping tasks and provide financial oversight, helping clients understand their finances and improve processes.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Full-cycle month-end close in QuickBooks Online
ā¢ General ledger maintenance and reconciliations (bank, credit card, AR/AP)
ā¢ Revenue recognition and expense classification
ā¢ Payroll review and coordination
ā¢ Clean-up of legacy books and historical accounting corrections
ā¢ Sales tax coordination and reporting support
ā¢ Monthly financial statement preparation (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
ā¢ Variance analysis and financial insights for founders
ā¢ Cash flow tracking and forecasting
ā¢ Budget development and monitoring
ā¢ Establishing internal controls and accounting policies
ā¢ Process improvement and documentation (SOP development)
ā¢ Participate in recurring client calls (monthly / bi-weekly)
ā¢ Translate financial results into plain-English insights for business owners
ā¢ Identify financial risks, inefficiencies, and growth opportunities
ā¢ Support CPA coordination for tax filings
ā¢ Assist with financing, lender reporting, and due diligence as needed
Skills
ā¢ 5+ years of accounting experience (public accounting or small business advisory a plus)
ā¢ Deep expertise in QuickBooks Online
ā¢ Strong month-end close and reconciliation background
ā¢ Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously
ā¢ Strong communication skills ā able to explain financial concepts clearly
ā¢ Comfortable working in fractional, project-based engagements
ā¢ QuickBooks Online (advanced proficiency)
ā¢ Excel / Google Sheets (strong working knowledge)
ā¢ CPA preferred (or CPA-track strongly encouraged)
ā¢ Experience supporting founder-led or small business clients
ā¢ Experience with financial clean-up projects preferred
ā¢ Experience with online bookkeeping environments and cloud-based systems
ā¢ Bill.com
ā¢ Gusto or similar payroll platforms
ā¢ Expensify or expense management tools
ā¢ Shopify, Stripe, Square integrations
ā¢ Other cloud-based accounting ecosystems
