The Regional Transmission Planning Engineer 2 is responsible for providing engineering analysis and technical support to ensure reliable operations of the electric power grid while complying with NERC standards and ERCOT market rules.ResponsibilitiesUnderstand and apply principles, theories, and concepts related to the engineering profession and ERCOT cultureExercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actionDesign and perform steady-state contingency analyses using power flow models (PowerWorld, PSSE, etc.) under the direction of a senior-level engineer and/or managementStructure planning studies and sensitivity analyses to determine the need for transmission improvements and to evaluate proposed projects, including technical and financial analysesAssist, guide, and mentor lower-level engineers, as appropriateAssist in providing input and analyses on market rules issues related to transmission planning, as appropriateAssist in providing market simulation/forecasting and transmission planning analyses to support other ERCOT activities, as appropriateSkillsMinimum 1 year of experience as a power system engineer or similar type roleBachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering or related field, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fieldsExperience within the electric utility industryProfessional EngineerCompany OverviewThe Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) manages the flow of electric power to 24 million Texas customers.
