The Regional Student Success Lead supports the School of Nursing by cultivating a dynamic learning environment that aligns with program outcomes and national best practices. This role contributes to the development of content and resources to support student success and progression with NCLEX-PN and NCLEX-RN preparation. The Regional Student Success Lead is responsible for presenting content and active learning experiences aimed at supporting the development of clinical reasoning and clinical judgment.
Success strategies may include quarterly interventions and end of program live reviews to prepare students for the NCLEX exams. In addition, this role serves as a resource for nursing leadership and faculty related to student resources, licensure examination preparation strategies, and teaching strategies that promote clinical reasoning. The emphasis of the success strategies presentation is on the effective teaching of the Next Gen NCLEX type questions and the incorporation of AACN’s Core Competencies into the curriculum. Current evidence-based strategies to promote student success and assist with collecting and analyzing program outcome data to guide content and resource development are critical.
Responsibilities:

Applies effective, evidence-based teaching strategies and techniques; teaching and modeling appropriate leveled learning skills to create an environment promoting student and faculty readiness with effective test taking strategies.
Coordinates and delivers content and materials to support students and faculty both in and beyond course work, enabling them to develop and apply clinical reasoning and clinical judgment.
Demonstrates the ability to create high levels of student and faculty engagement through active learning strategies, empowering students by building their confidence.
Includes teaching/learning opportunities with Next Gen NCLEX questions.
Serves as a role model for faculty and future nurses with professional, acknowledging, and encouraging demeanor.
Delivers clear, organized resources to support learning experiences.
Integrates scope of standards of practice, including entry level practice of the practical nurse and professional nurse.
Facilitates problem solving with hands-on critical thinking skills.
Maintains a growth mindset towards student learning and innovative teaching practices.
Contributes to the development of curriculum for interventions to promote student success and increase utilization of resources available for faculty and students.
Develops a monthly updated NCLEX preparation resource guide for students and faculty.
Collaborates with campus teams to create objectives, content, and resources for specific concerns and issues at the campus level.
Participates in curricular redesign, applying the 2021 AACN Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics, individual State Board of Nursing requirements and any additional curricular requirements.
Adapts teaching methods and resources based on program outcome data to include Mountain Measurements, proprietary exam results, and course exam results.
Surveys students and faculty quarterly for gaps in knowledge that need addressing.
Lead monthly meetings with campus faculty to facilitate CR/CJ and Socratic questioning sessions, focusing on test-taking strategies and clinical reasoning activities.
Provide ongoing support to faculty and campuses with the integration of CR/CJ activities into each classroom.
Present new strategies at campus faculty meetings to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

Must be reliable, have a strong understanding of the clinical reasoning process to promote clinical judgement.
Must have a strong understanding of the application of Socratic questioning throughout all aspects of the nursing school journey.
Be an enthusiast in supporting student success through new initiatives for clinical reasoning acquisition.
Must have a history of teamwork and collaboration within their campus to facilitate campus commitment to clinical reasoning within all aspects of student learning.
Understanding of adult learning theory and evidence-based teaching strategies.
Master’s degree in nursing.
Current, unencumbered RN license (or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice).
