RCM Collections Specialists
About the position
The RCM Collections Specialist at Capitol Imaging Services is responsible for managing the submission and reimbursement of billed claims related to Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans. This role requires familiarity with prior authorization requirements, correct billing setup, and insurer reimbursement practices. The specialist will oversee daily collections, manage aging reports, and ensure timely claim filing and follow-up, contributing to the overall patient care and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Participate in pre-service activities including establishing medical necessity and assisting with prior authorization.

Manage daily collection and aging reports of patient and insurance charges.
,
Ensure timely claim filing and follow-up, providing necessary reports to management.
,
Manage insurance, denial, profile variance, patient, and credit tickler files for PET claims.
,
Contact payers to determine the status of claims and request additional information as needed.
,
File appeals and reconsiderations to insurance companies and government payers to obtain correct payment.
,
Contact patients regarding delinquent accounts and arrange payment schedules.
,
Assist with billing questions and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
,
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or related field.
,
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and medical billing software applications.
,
Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10 codes, and radiopharmaceutical reimbursement practices.
,
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
,
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Nice-to-haves
Experience with Medical Billing (Imagine) software is preferred.

Knowledge of cash management principles and accounting.
