Position Overview: Ramp Agent

As a Ramp Agent at arenaflex, you will be responsible for coordinating aircraft ground operations, handling cargo and baggage, and ensuring our ground operations run seamlessly. This is a position that requires excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a collaborative spirit to work effectively with other Ground Operations teams to meet flight takeoff schedules.

This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, operating specialized ground equipment, and performing physically demanding tasks. Key Responsibilities

As a Ramp Agent, your daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


Customer Service Excellence: Provide friendly service and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external clients. Deliver incredible customer service to individuals wishing to travel, use cargo, or baggage services by servicing aircraft at ramps and terminals.
Aircraft Handling: Load, dump, service, guide, and direct company aircraft on the ground. Ensure proper positioning of aircraft for safe and efficient operations.
Baggage and Cargo Management: Receive and record customer baggage, aircraft cargo, mail, and company materials as required. Handle all aspects of loading, stowing, and dumping baggage, cargo, airmail, aircraft cargo, stabilizer, and company materials according to predetermined plans.
Documentation: Submit cargo container loading slips and complete all forms and paperwork associated with work tasks according to established procedures. Enter information into the company's information system as required.
Freight Operations: Receive, deliver, and transport freight and baggage to and from aircraft. Maintain records regarding these duties. Warehouse, weigh, stack, receive, and deliver air freight while checking against accompanying documentation.
Equipment Operation: Operate and drive automated equipment including belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push-back pulls, bag trucks, toilet trucks, and de-icers. Physically move push trucks and containers as needed.
Aircraft Cleaning: Perform interior aircraft cabin cleaning manually, including sweeping upholstery, cleaning windows, galleys, and disposal containers according to relevant documentation.
Provisioning Duties: May perform duties of a Provisioning Specialist, including loading aircraft cabin interiors for flights with equipment and supplies. Maintain inventory of such items and supplies.
Safety and Security: Protect customers' baggage, air freight, airmail, and company materials from weather, loss, theft, damage, or destruction. Be aware of moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate information and instructions.
Jetway Operations: Use jetway steps frequently to deliver items checked at the gate to the aircraft bin.
Toilet Services: Clean and service toilets, work toilet trucks, and dispose of contents according to established procedures.
Team Collaboration: Work in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of the organization. Maintain routine contact with individuals outside the organization such as delivery agents, contractors, and more.


Work Schedule and Environment

This is an association-based position that includes working assigned shifts based on location. Shifts can include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Ramp Agents must be flexible and willing to work varying schedules to meet operational needs.

The work environment involves:


Working both indoors and outdoors
Exposure to a wide variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
Exposure to engine and equipment noises, exhaust, dirt, and dust for extended periods
Working in confined or elevated spaces
Physical movement between passenger terminals, hangars, and airfreight facilities


Qualifications and Requirements

Education

No formal education requirement. However, a bachelor's degree is preferred for candidates seeking advancement opportunities within the organization.

Experience

No prior experience required. arenaflex provides comprehensive training to help you succeed in this role.

Required Certifications and Licenses


Must have a valid state motor vehicle operator's license
Must be able to obtain a SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements
May be required by Station Leadership to obtain a Customs Seal and meet all requirements to work international flights


Physical Capabilities

Candidates must be able to meet the following physical requirements:


Lift and move items of 70 pounds or more on a regular basis
Lift loads of 40 to 50 pounds on elevated surfaces
Climb, bend, bow, crawl, and stoop regularly and for extended periods
Work in confined or high places
Carry heavy items up and down jetway steps
Maintain the ability to wear prescribed uniforms


Other Requirements


Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be able to conform to company attendance standards
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per company appearance standards
Ability to work shift work and/or overtime
No current or future work authorization sponsorship available

Time Management: Must work under close time constraints to achieve fast turns of aircraft
Attention to Detail: Ability to review freight documentation for accuracy and correct forms as necessary


Training Program

New Ramp Agents must successfully complete the arenaflex Ramp Specialist training program with a 90% or greater average and successfully complete an evaluation period. All training requirements as outlined in the Ground Operations Employee Handbook and the Work Arrangement must be met.

Starting salary range: $35,000 - $40,000 per year
