Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation), NY HELPS - Region 3

The NYS Department of Transportation is seeking aProfessional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) for the I-81 Viaduct Project. The role involves supervising design teams, managing project activities, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements throughout various stages of project development and construction. Responsibilities Supervising and leading State forces and/or consultant highway or bridge design teams throughout all stages of the project development process; coordinating project activities with regional & Main Office functional units and/or consultants, local officials and the public; monitoring project progress with respect to bolthires, scope, schedule and quality; and managing, assisting and providing quality control for the production of Design Bid Build and/or Design Build procurement documents; coordination of utilities in design and construction stages As aProfessional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) with construction responsibilities, the selected candidates may be assigned to duties including, but not limited to: I-81 Administrative Office Engineer, Change Order review specialist, Assistant to I-81 Area Supervisors on one or more Design Build or Design Bid Build projects On behalf of the I-81 Area Supervisor, occasional monitoring of night or weekend work may be required to support project activities.The duties may include supervision & management of consultant and State forces; monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements as well as Federal, State, and Local Laws, Rules and Regulations; assuring the contractor meets high standards of quality and workmanship and overall safety on the project Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations Skills A New York StateProfessional Engineer's license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below A New York StateProfessional Engineer's license and current registration AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below Qualifying degrees: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees One year of full-time engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or the ability to meet the travel requirements of the position Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisYour required educational credentials must have been awarded by an educational institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education If awarded by an institution outside of the U.S.and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency Company Overview To attain its mission, the responsibilities, functions and duties of the New York State Department of Transportation include: ■Coordinating and developing comprehensive transportation policy for the State; coordinating and assisting in the development and operation of transportation facilities and services for highways, railroads, mass transit systems, ports, waterways and aviation facilities; and, formulating and keeping current a long-range, comprehensive statewide master plan for the balanced development of public and private commuter and general transportation facilities.It was founded in 1967, and is headquartered in Albany, NY, US, with a workforce of 5001-10000 employees.
