Production Designer – Product Focus

Instrument is looking to expand our freelance roster with detail-oriented Production Designers to support high-volume web design system translation projects for our digital product clients. This role involves translating existing desktop webpage designs into an established, component-based design system. What You'll Do: Apply an existing design system to a large set of desktop webpage layouts in FigmaTranslate visual designs into production-ready comps using predefined templates and componentsFollow a structured process to ensure design consistency and accuracy across page designsPartner with a Lead Designer and Project Manager to prioritize deliverables and review progressEnsure visual alignment with existing templates, spacing, grids, typography, and imageryMaintain organized Figma files with strong naming conventions and layered structureFlag inconsistencies or component gaps to the internal team when needed What You Bring: A strong eye for detail and visual consistency, especially in production-oriented design workDemonstrated experience working within established design systems and component librariesProficiency in Figma with a focus on system-driven layout executionThe ability to interpret specifications and execute against them with minimal deviationA portfolio that showcases production design work, including multi-page layouts or system-driven projectsClear, responsive communication and comfort working on a structured, deadline-driven timelineFamiliarity with web accessibility considerations and responsive design best practices Pay Range The expected pay range for this role is $35-$75 per hour on a 1099, depending on level of experience
