Private Equity - Associate - Fall / Winter Term - Unpaid [2025 / 2026]
Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious MBA candidate to join our team as a Private Equity Intern. This role offers immersive exposure to the full investment lifecycle—from thesis development and deal sourcing to due diligence, financial modeling, and portfolio value creation. You’ll work directly with partners in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where your insights and contributions will shape real outcomes. A Day in the Life At K2 Growth Capital, your day won’t follow a script—but it will be full of impact. As an MBA intern, you’ll be immersed in live deals and real decision-making from day one. You might start by researching a new sector or identifying acquisition targets, then shift to building a financial model or joining a diligence call with a founder. Some days will focus on developing investment memos or analyzing growth levers for portfolio companies; others might involve working directly with partners to shape a value creation plan. The work is dynamic, high-exposure, and requires sharp thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a bias toward action. • Key Responsibilities * • Conduct market research and industry analysis to support thesis-driven sourcing • Identify and assess acquisition targets aligned with firm strategy • Build operating and LBO models to evaluate financial performance and investment returns • Draft internal memos and materials for investment committee discussions • Support due diligence efforts, including customer interviews, data room analysis, and founder meetings • Assist with strategic planning and KPI tracking for active portfolio companies* • *Qualifications • Currently enrolled in a top-tier (Bachelors or Masters) program • Experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, operating roles, or high-growth startups preferred • Proficient in financial modeling and valuation methodologies • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think independently • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort in ambiguity and lean teams • Passion for lower-middle-market investing and working directly with founders • *What You’ll Gain • Hands-on experience working on live investments and portfolio strategy • Direct exposure to partners and the decision-making process • A practical understanding of the private equity investment lifecycle • Skill development across sourcing, analysis, and operational value creation • A compelling internship platform for a long-term career in private equity or entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA) K2 Growth Capital is an equal opportunity employer.
