Job Summary:Are you ready to join a game-changing open-source AI platform that harnesses the power of hybrid cloud to drive innovation?The Red Hat OpenShift AI team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer with Kubernetes and MLOps (Machine Learning Operations) experience to join our rapidly growing engineering team. In this role, you will play a key leadership role in a talented team of engineers, contributing directly to projects like Ray and Kubeflow while also shaping the team’s vision and roadmap. Embracing an upstream first mentality, you should have a passion for working in open-source communities and for developing solutions that integrate Red Hat, open-source, and partner technologies into a cohesive platform.What you will doArchitect and lead the implementation of new features and solutions for OpenShift AIInnovate in the MLOps domain by contributing meaningfully to upstream communities such as Ray and KubeflowProvide technical vision and leadership on critical and high impact projectsEnsure non-functional requirements including security, resiliency, and maintainability are metUse CI/CD best practices to deliver solutions as productization efforts into OpenShift AIContribute to a culture of continuous improvement by sharing recommendations and technical knowledge with team membersCollaborate with product management, other engineering and cross-functional teams to analyze and clarify business requirementsCommunicate effectively to stakeholders and team members to ensure proper visibility of development effortsGive thoughtful and prompt code reviewsRepresent RHOAI in external engagements including industry events, customer meetings, and open source communitiesMentor, influence, and coach a distributed team of engineersWhat you will bringAdvanced experience developing applications in GoAdvanced experience developing applications in PythonAdvanced experience developing applications in Kubernetes, OpenShift, or other cloud-native technologiesAbility to quickly learn and guide others on using new tools and technologiesProven ability to innovate and a passion for staying at the forefront of technology.Experience with distributed systems (especially those that run on Kubernetes) and troubleshooting themAutonomous work ethic, thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Experience providing technical leadership in a global team and delivering on a visionExcellent written and verbal communication skillsThe following will be considered a plus:While a Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related discipline is valued, we prioritize practical experience and technical prowessUnderstanding of how Open Source communities workExperience with development for public cloud services (AWS, GCE, Azure)Experience working with or deploying MLOps platformsExperience with pipelines tools such as Argo or TektonFamiliarity or experience with the MLOps lifecycle, with an emphasis on model trainingExperience writing Kubernetes/OpenShift controllers and operatorsExperience writing DSLs in Python or other languagesAbout Red HatRed Hat is the world’s leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, using a community-powered approach to deliver high-performing Linux, cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
