Principal Application Engineer (Back End)

At Discover Financial Services, we are seeking a talented and experienced Principal Application Engineer (Back End) to join our engineering team. We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for problem-solving and a desire to learn and grow.The successful candidate will have extensive experience in back-end engineering and architecture, and a deep understanding of software design and development principles. They will also have the capacity to work closely with other engineering teams to design, develop, and maintain complex applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in object-oriented programming languages such as Java and C#, as well as experience in web services, API development, and database technologies.The successful candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain complex applications
Create back-end engineering and architecture
Develop and implement software design and development principles
Utilize object-oriented programming languages such as Java and C
Create and maintain web services and APIs
Manage and coordinate multiple projects and tasks
Collaborate with other engineering teams
Ensure applications meet all quality standards
Troubleshoot and debug applications
Develop database technologies
Maintain effective communication and interpersonal skills
