Principal Accountant

Large Oil & Gas company in North Houston is looking for an experienced Technical Accountant to join their team! They are looking for someone that is innovative, enjoys working in a team-oriented environment, enjoys a challenge and someone who wants to grow and lead.

The responsibilities will include the following:

-Responsible for researching and responding to complex accounting issues in the organization including revenue recognition, consolidation accounting, investment accounting, impairment analyses, lease accounting, and various other matters

-Reviewing and interpreting various contracts and proposing the appropriate accounting treatment;

-Responsible for advising and assisting global finance and accounting personnel on complex accounting issues

- Researches and resolves complex accounting issues and transactions including related internal controls

-Performs review and demonstrates understanding of various contracts with customers, vendors, and other complex transactions

-Contributes or prepares specialized memos and reports on complex accounting issues and transactions

-Monitors and assesses the impact of new accounting standards and SEC filing rules

-Supports external auditors as needed; Provides accounting assistance during special projects, such as mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures

-Performs fair valuation or reviews valuation provided by third parties for various accounting purposes

-Provides accounting training presentations or documentation to share accounting knowledge with the global organization.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting an active CPA with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
