Polk County Ag in the Classroom Educator

Ag in the Classroom Educator Purpose: Are you passionate about agriculture and eager to educate students about how agriculture impacts their life daily? Do you thrive in an energetic and collaborative work environment? Polk County Farm Bureau is seeking a Ag in the Classroom Educator who embodies these qualities and more. Basic Function Create, prepare, and present agricultural lessons and activities for K-12 classrooms throughout Polk County. Essential Functions • Promote importance and relevance of agriculture in students' lives and its impact on Iowa and the world. • Deliver prepared lessons and facilitate activities to K-5 students on a regular basis. • Initiate networking opportunities for furthering agricultural literacy education. • Promote Agriculture in the Classroom program, it's mission and goals via social media, e-newsletters, Spokesman paper, and blogs. • Utilize technology and social media to reach a variety of audiences to promote and support agricultural literacy and education programs and initiatives. • Assist volunteers with programs and events. • Organize educational supplies and keep inventory. • Communicate regularly with the Polk County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom team. • Help plan and participate in a summer continuing education class during the summer. • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned. What We're Seeking: • Degree preferred in Education, Agriculture or other related field of study. • Proven classroom experience, presentation, organizational, and analytical skills is highly desirable. • Enthusiasm, flexibility, professionalism, and a passion for agriculture are a must. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Experience or skill creating visual aids, social media graphics, informational flyers, etc. • Knowledge or background in agriculture is a plus. Additional Details: • Currently part time (average 15-20 hours per week) • Travel primarily in Polk County • Based in Ankeny, Iowa with programs conducted throughout Polk County • Flexible work schedule available after training completed Join us in making a meaningful impact on our community and advancing a deeper appreciation for agriculture among its students!
