Overview This is a pro-bono volunteer position. JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls. We are seeking a creative and innovative Curriculum Designer / Curriculum Writer to develop engaging and educational materials for middle school students. The main objective of this role is to design a comprehensive and age-appropriate curriculum that aligns with our organization's mission and educational goals. Responsibilities • Collaborate with subject matter experts and educators to identify learning objectives and content requirements. • Design curriculum modules, lesson plans, and teaching materials for various STEM subjects, ensuring they are age-appropriate and aligned with educational standards. • Create interactive and hands-on activities that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in students. • Incorporate technology and digital resources to enhance learning experiences. Review and edit existing curriculum materials to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness. • Develop specialized curriculum modules focusing on cutting-edge topics such as Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, designed to engage and challenge middle school students. • Work with the Education Team to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the designed curriculum. • Provide support and training to educators and volunteers on the effective use of the curriculum materials. • Stay up-to-date with developments in the education field and make continuous improvements to the curriculum. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field. • Proven experience in curriculum design and development, particularly for middle school students. • Knowledge of STEM education principles and best practices. • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear and concise educational content. • Proficiency in using technology for curriculum development, including digital tools and software. • Creativity and the ability to design engaging and interactive learning materials. • Strong organizational and project management skills. • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, able to work effectively with stakeholders and subject matter experts. • Understanding of educational standards and assessment methods. • Must commit to 5-7 Hours a week for 6 months This is a pro-bono volunteer position.
