Background
Consumers are increasingly asking if the brands they trust are Âsustainable  that is, produced under acceptable social, economic and environmental practices. Companies have responded by setting targets for becoming Â100% sustainableÂ. However, traditional approaches for verifying sustainability face challenges reaching farmers that are too small, too remote, or informally organized. Enveritas (www.enveritas.org) is building solutions for smallholder coffee farmers that are currently beyond the reach of existing sustainability certification or verification approaches. We have developed a rigorous, scalable and transparent method of verification that works in this Âunderserved space. This verification is the backbone of our Responsible Sourcing platform that helps companies meet their sustainability targets by investing in the areas that need it most.
Enveritas is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 and works in most major coffee-growing countries in the US, with a remote-first environment and hubs in diverse locations such as New York, Uganda, Ethiopia, Colombia, and Indonesia. Enveritas combines the rigor of its systems and processes with an intense effort to collect credible data from the field, accompanied by inspiring and unique stories (insights) that permit our clients to work together with stakeholders to improve the coffee growerÂs livelihood. Our operations in Africa and Asia cover major commodity-growing countries such as Cote dÂIvoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
The Role
Your role will be to assist Enveritas in managing verification operations and data analysis work in Asia and Africa. You will report to Enveritas Operations Lead in Asia. Specific responsibilities of the role include:
 Surface the trends and insights that will help coffee roasters make data driven decisions about how they strengthen their supply chains
 Helping to manage the data quality control process of several coffee origins in Asia and Africa
 Supporting the management of Enveritas proprietary survey and data collection tools
 Design, test, and scale new tools and SOPs to be used by Enveritas country teams in Africa and Asia
 Support special analysis projects on a wide range of sustainability topics, such as costs of production, greenhouse gas emissions, and living income
 Work on new initiatives in collaboration with members of the Enveritas global team, which includes program & field operations managers, data scientists, product managers, software engineers, agronomy and coffee industry experts, and multi-generational coffee farmers
 Gain direct experience and knowledge of coffee production, through visits to coffee farming communities and meetings with industry stakeholders and local coffee organizations
Qualifications
 1+ years relevant work experience in consulting, business, finance, quantitative research, data analysis, the coffee sector, international development, or sustainable agriculture
 Availability for regular travels to multiple countries in Asia/Africa
 Clear track record of working in a fast-paced, multicultural team environment
 Excellent communication and analytical skills; flexible problem-solving attitude
 High level of rigor and attention to detail
 A driving desire to alleviate poverty and make the world a better place
 Strong worth ethic and professionalism, particularly when doing independent and remote work
 BachelorÂs degree and excellent academic record, related to development studies, economics, business, statistics, plant science, forestry, or other relevant discipline with relevant professional experience
 Strong analytical competencies, with experience in navigating through large datasets and derive relevant insights with the use of data exploration or analysis techniques
 Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs applications, familiarity with quantitative data collection software/platforms; knowledge of Python or other programming languages beneficial, but not required
 Based in Asia
