The compensation for this role is a competitive salary, reflecting our commitment to attracting the best.   Job title: Temporary SIC Instructor Company: City of Glendale Job description : Description The special interest classes (SIC) division of the city of Parks & Recreation, offers numerous classes and workshops throughout the year. Classes are offered in a wide variety of interest areas including sports, fitness, dance, cultural arts, personal development, culinary arts and music. Youth classes serve children up through twelve years of age, while adult classes are open to ages thirteen and up. Classes are offered in three sessions during the year and coincide with the release of the Glendale @ Play magazine. Classes are held at Glendale recreation centers and community parks. The special interest class program is a self-sustaining program supported by class fees. Instructors are paid on an hourly or contractual basis through the collection of participant fees. Classes must meet minimum registration requirements to be held. Rate of Pay: Depends on Qualifications ($15 - $30/hr.) Essential Functions Plans, organizes, teach, and evaluates a recreation class, workshop, or clinic. Develops detailed curriculum, class format, and supply list before the class session begins. Outlines and provides detailed lesson plans. Possesses good speaking and communication skills. Knowledgeable in teaching methods and procedures. Possesses the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and recreation staff. Responds to questions and aid facility users. Maintains cleanliness of the facility and equipment. Classroom / facility set-up and take down. Maintains City of Glendale's expectations, guidelines, and procedures. Maintains a safe work environment. Report all problems with facility or equipment to a supervisor. Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements/Success Factors Any combination of experience, training and certification which provides the ability to effectively teach a recreation class is required. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions 1. CCC/AED certification is required within six (6) months of hire. 2. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
