Part-Time Research Mentor
JV Admissions is a NYC-based college consulting firm specializing in tailored guidance for domestic and international students aiming for top U.S. universities. We’re seeking a part-time Research Mentor with a background in business, economics, finance, public policy, or pre-law/legal studies to guide high-achieving high school students through independent research projects.

Position Overview
The Part-Time Research Mentor will work on a flexible, as-needed basis, with weekly hours varying depending on student demand. You’ll meet with students virtually, help them shape a focused research project, and support them as they work toward producing a substantial academic paper.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead weekly virtual mentorship sessions with assigned students
• Help students explore and refine potential research interests within your field
• Provide general guidance on approaching academic research and developing strong ideas
• Offer high-level feedback on students’ thinking and written work
• Keep students organized, motivated, and on track throughout the program
• Maintain clear, professional communication with students, families, and the JV Admissions team
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s, JD, MBA, or PhD (in progress or completed) strongly preferred
• Graduated from T-10 and T-20 universities, strongly preferred
• Background in business, economics, finance, public policy, legal studies, or related fields
• Experience mentoring, publications, or supporting student work is a plus
• Strong academic writing and communication skills
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
