Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver instruction to students in self-contained classrooms and small group settings, adhering to District and state-approved curriculum. Provide systematic instruction in English and Telugu, catering to the diverse needs of students. Conduct screenings to determine student eligibility for the bilingual program and interpret results to inform instruction. Set high academic expectations and hold students accountable for their progress. Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress, maintaining accurate records and devising intervention strategies as needed. Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with grade-level teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure student success. Communicate effectively with parents and students regarding progress, encouraging parental involvement in monitoring student growth. Participate in staff development and school improvement activities to stay abreast of best practices in bilingual education. Contribute to the development and implementation of curriculum and school objectives, ensuring alignment with state and federal requirements. Establish a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes social and emotional development. Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this role, you must possess: A valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a K-9 Bilingual or K-12 Bilingual endorsement. Fluency in Telugu and English, with the ability to instruct in both languages. A strong understanding of best practices in English Language Learning and bilingual education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Preferred qualifications include: Experience working in a bilingual or multicultural educational setting. Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the needs of students and the school community. A team-oriented approach, with a willingness to participate in staff development and school improvement initiatives. Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you should possess: Strong instructional skills, with the ability to tailor teaching to meet the needs of diverse learners. Effective classroom management techniques, fostering a positive and productive learning environment. The ability to assess student progress, identify areas for improvement, and develop targeted interventions.
