About the Role

We're seeking an experienced and passionate educator to join our team as a Part-Time District Mentor Teacher. As a District Mentor, you'll work closely with beginning teachers, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback to help them refine their teaching practices and achieve their full potential. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational landscape in South Carolina, while working in a remote setting that offers flexibility and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities


Support a maximum of 10 beginning teachers using the South Carolina Mentoring Model, providing regular feedback, guidance, and coaching to help them develop their teaching skills.
Engage in non-evaluative assessment processes, including planning and reflective conversations with beginning teachers about their classroom practices.
Conduct formative evaluations based on the South Carolina Teaching Standards, using the ADEPT 4.0 Rubric to identify areas of reinforcement and refinement.
Observe and/or meet weekly with each beginning teacher to provide suggestions and formative feedback, helping them to refine their instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
Maintain accurate records and complete all required reporting prior to deadlines, ensuring seamless communication with district administrators and other stakeholders.
Collaborate with beginning teachers and building administrators to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Participate in all required professional development activities, staying up-to-date on best practices and research-based instructional strategies.
Communicate regularly with District Lead Mentors and the Mentoring Team to ensure alignment and coordination of mentoring efforts.


Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you'll need:


A valid (i.e., active) South Carolina educator certificate (Classroom-based teacher; Speech; Media Specialist; School Guidance Counselor).
A minimum of three (3) successful years teaching in South Carolina at the continuing-contract level.
Completed mentor training in accordance with South Carolina guidelines to become a certified mentor.
Thorough knowledge of the South Carolina Teaching Standards based on the ADEPT 4.0 Rubric.
A high level of competency in data-driven instructional decisions, with a strong understanding of researched-based instructional strategies and effective student assessment practices.
Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with beginning teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a remote work environment.
Proficiency in the application of technology, including tools and platforms used for mentoring and instructional support.


Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:


Experience as an effective South Carolina trained mentor.
A proven track record of success in mentoring and supporting beginning teachers.
