Parks Worker
Perform skilled manual labor included in the care and maintenance of parks and other landscaped areas. Operate tools, machinery and vehicles in safe and efficient manner. Ability to operate equipment such as lawn mower, weed eater, and various landscaping tools in a safe and efficient manner. Duties also include other miscellaneous related work as assigned.
This position is subject to some lifting, carrying (75 lbs. +) and working in the heat of summer and cold of winter.
ā¢ Manually pick up and empty trash in parks.
ā¢ Clean and disinfect public restrooms located in parks.
ā¢ Mow grass and weeds using tractor equipped with shredder, operate power mower and weed eater.
ā¢ Prune trees and shrubs using hand and power tools.
ā¢ Repair and paint fences, playground equipment, restrooms and picnic tables.
ā¢ Repair water leaks that occur in city parks or in city cemetery.
ā¢ Clean ditches and culverts.
ā¢ Operate roto-tiller, jack hammer, rotary sweeper, sod cutter, edger, weed eater, welder, cutting torch, chain saw, blade, plow, shovel, rake, hoe, sharp shooter, yo-yo, wrench, hammer, drill, circular saw and router during maintenance.
ā¢ Inform supervisor each day of operating condition of all equipment assigned, accidents, and conditions preventing carrying out of duties.
ā¢ Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
High School Diploma or GED required
Knowledge of safety rules to be followed in operation of equipment, tools and vehicles. Knowledge of landscaping and general construction.
