Online Part-Time Math Teacher

Cabarrus Virtual Academy (CVA) is hiring a part-time math teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The position will be a half position and require 20 hrs a week (4 hrs a day/5 days a week) and may require occasionally reporting to CVA campus. Under the direction of the Online Learning Coordinator at CVA and the Principal, the teacher will develop interactive and relevant online course materials inline with CVA values, lead live virtual sessions and provide communication and feedback to student’s online learning. The position will include year-long Math II and semester Math III or Math IV courses and will require live meetings with students 2-3 days a week in the morning and afternoon.

Essential Functions
• Develop virtual lessons and curriculum for online courses
• Provide weekly communication to students introducing course work, providing group feedback, and complementing course work to support student learning.
• Assess student learning and provide personalized and sustaining feedback and coaching for students coursework daily.
• Provide engaging live virtual sessions to support student learning and offer weekly office hours via virtually for students.Develop relationships with students, parents and school personnel through regular communication of student progress.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Excellent computer skills
• Experience using the learning management system Canvas, Google, Microsoft and other software
• Ability to communicate with students, parents and school staff through email
• Ability to develop culture and relationships online through communication and personalized feedback
• Ability to effectively interact with principals and other team members.
• Ability to provide coaching and feedback to disciplinary inquiry for all students
• Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects, plan starting and ending deadlines, and successfully bring closure to projects.
• Excellent record keeping and reporting skills.Maintain professional attitude and communicate professionally with all stakeholders

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• North Carolina Teaching License in Middle Grades (6-9) Math and Secondary (9-12) Math
• Proficient in CanvasOnline teaching experience

Physical Requirements
• This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
• Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.
• Work has standard vision requirements.
• Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
• Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
• Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.
• Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions.Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Special Requirements
• NC Teacher Certification or have qualifications to obtain a NC teacher certifications
