Nurse Practitioner - SON Combest Abilene Community Health Center(ACHC)
Position Description
Provides primary care as part of a health care team in an ambulatory setting in a particular discipline. Provides patient education and counseling as well as physical assessment. May participate in teaching programs for students and other student residents. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact with patients, families, and other clinic personnel and outside professionals. Some positions in the classification require travel to outreach clinics and home visits, and participation in educational efforts and special programs that occur outside of normal working hours.
Major/Essential Functions
This is a Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the TTUHSC SON Combest Abilene Community Health Center (ACHC) clinic in the Abilene area. Exciting opportunity to implement a comprehensive, evidence-based practice and to work with an interdisciplinary team for educational and research development in primary care.
Provide primary care as a part of a healthcare team in an ambulatory setting.
Provide patient education and counseling.
Conduct patient health and physical assessments.
May participate in teaching programs and serve as a preceptor for teaching programs for students as identified by the department and supervisor.
Required to complete patient charts and enter data into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) meeting deadlines identified by the department.
Required to attend departmental meetings such as monthly provider meeting in addition to other meetings as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as an FNP nurse practitioner.
Experience in providing primary care in a medical setting, preferably in an ambulatory setting.
Basic Life Support certification
Experience using electronic health records (EHR) software /systems with experience in documentation in medical records.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and written with patients, staff, and other entities. Bilingual English/Spanish
Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of current healthcare practices.
Pay Statement
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
Occasional Duties
Conduct presentations as assigned by supervisor.
Attend conferences to complete CEUs as needed.
Travel to meetings in different locations.
Attend required meetings.
Serve as a preceptor to students with appropriate experience as prescribed by the TX Board of Nursing.

Required Qualifications
Education: Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program.
License/Certification: Current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer your license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate nursing specialty from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Recognition by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advance Practitioner.
