WHO WE ARENew Classrooms is a national non-profit organization focused on reimagining math education for all students. We are a fully remote team of educators, technologists, and advocates committed to the idea that all students deserve an educational pathway that meets them where they are and gets them to where they need to be. We partner with schools, districts, and states to support the implementation of our personalized, competency-based math solution, Teach to One Roadmaps, while also advocating for shifts across the K-12 landscape to create the conditions for more student-centered learning.ABOUT THE ROLEThe Finance & Accounting Team is responsible for the financial well-being of the organization. This includes supporting the short and long-term planning/forecasting cycles, providing accurate and timely reporting for decision support, recommending and evaluating strategies and data, as well as ensuring that we account for all transactions in accordance with GAAP and in a manner that supports required grant reporting. We collaborate cross functionally to ensure that the organization meets its financial goals which will enable it to fulfill its mission of transforming education.We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst who brings energy and curiosity while helping to bring the story behind the numbers to life. This role goes beyond spreadsheets and financial models. You will directly contribute to the evolution of our business model, and will work closely with the CFAO, CEO and President to forecast and plan for this fast moving organization. You will project and evaluate financial results through budgets, forecasts and strategic plan models, play a key role in collaborating with the program and development teams at New Classrooms, and manage the financial operations associated with revenue and margin generation. You bring energy and enthusiasm, understanding that outstanding financial analysis and modeling work is a critical component of the organization’s ability to successfully grow.WHAT THIS ROLE DOESBuild, enhance and maintain financial models, forecasts and financial reports Identify critical questions to be asked, thinking proactively about the data and analysis needed to guide strategic decision-making Create and maintain financial reports in various systems to ensure quick and accurate data reporting and analysisAnalyze and interpret financial data to advise and support strategic decision-making and achieve business objectivesUtilize financial modeling and analytical tools to recommend, measure, and forecast the impact of various business decisions and scenariosTrack, investigate and resolve variances between financial projections and actual resultsPresent findings and/or recommendations in a meaningful format to support strategic decision-makingWork with the CEO and VP of Development to determine short- and long-term fundraising needsCollaborate with sales team to perform activity-based and other costing analyses to determine the cost of products and services offered, and develop / evaluate pricing strategies Interface with fundraising, business development, and sales teams to manage revenue targets and track progress against goalsTrack trends and provide meaningful insights through various performance metricsCreate institutional grant budgets and manage organizational expenditures against budgetsWork in concert with accounting colleagues to ensure consistency of data collection, tagging and reportingEvaluate current and historical financial data and analyze financial viability of new program opportunities and operating modelsProvide financial information for the Board of Directors and for grant proposals as requiredIdentify and recommend programs to assist the organization with their financial needs / relief e.g. PPP loan, federal funding etc.KEY COMPETENCIES OF THE ROLECritical Thinking - You are a highly critical thinker who is able to critically analyze various approaches or solutions and can gather insights from a variety of inputsExcel Expert - You have advanced Excel / financial modeling skills and proven quantitative and analytical abilities; you live in Excel dailyInsatiably Curious - You relentlessly strive to understand current and future programmatic plans, digging into data and translating your findings into strategic foresight that helps our org navigate pathways to growth Problem Solver - You are an inquisitive problem solver and lead with curiosity, successfully navigating whatever systems (whether data or people) to get the information you need to solve problems or propose solutionsCommunication - You are an effective communicator, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to capture and explain financial concepts to financial and non-financial stakeholders, especially at the executive and board levels Strategic and Tactical - You are passionate about numbers. You have an eagle eye for the decimal level of detail but can also zoom out and look at the big picture of what the numbers are telling youFlexibility - You are able to adjust to changing needs quickly, willing to create multiple versions of requested deliverables with tight turnaround timesWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORYou embody our core values : Prioritize People, Initiate and Innovate, Lifelong Learning, Creative Collaboration, Purposeful Partnerships and Considered Confidence.Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance or related field4 - 7 years of progressive work experience in FP&A role, corporate finance, or investment banking, etc.Experience with commercial/consumer modeling and/or SAASExceptional organizational skills and attention to detailComfort working in a highly collaborative and fast paced work environmentAbility to work easily with people at all levels of the organizationTeam player with a willingness and eagerness to helpSelf-starter able to work independentlyAbility to handle highly sensitive information and maintain strict confidentialityProficiency with database applications like Excel vba, data analysis toolsROLE CLASSIFICATION AND BENEFITSThis role is remote, part-time, and includes benefits such as rich medical, dental, and vision insurance, 25 paid days off per year (prorated for the period in which you work), paid parental leave, a professional development budget and a quarterly cell phone subsidy. The role may offer the opportunity to convert to a full-time position within 6–12 months.The hiring salary range for this role is $48,000 - $53,000 and will be commensurate with experience. We have a hiring salary range of $53,000 - $58,000 for specific higher cost of labor locations, which include New York City, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco/Oakland, Los Angeles, Seattle and their metro areas.New Classrooms is a fully remote organization.
