Summary As a Network Security Engineer at Gainwell, you will be a part of an innovative healthcare technology company with a mission to serve the healthcare needs of our communities. Gainwell is seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer who can provide technical oversight for policy management across various firewall and web application firewall technologies. The ideal candidate will have a deep experience and understanding in managing next generation firewall policy and modules, as well as web application firewall rulesets, and secure access technologies such as Netskope internet policy and secure access. As a Network Security Engineer at Gainwell you help design, implement and manage network security measures to protect the organization’s systems from threats both internal and external. Your role in our mission Design, implement, review, and manage firewall rule sets across enterprise firewalls. Design, implement, maintain, and tune WAF policies to mitigate application layer threats while ensuring application availability. Administer SASE and ZTNA solutions including policy definition, troubleshooting, and optimization. Conduct regular audits and rule reviews to eliminate unused or overly permissive policies. Support network segmentation, zero trust architecture, and secure remote access initiatives. Collaborate with business, infrastructure, application, and incident response teams to resolve security related issues and concerns. Participate in change management, vulnerability remediation efforts, and on-call rotations as needed. Performs complex tasks independently while following pre-defined change management procedures. Complex engineering analysis; Reacts to and initiates corrective action regarding security violations and findings. What we're looking for Deep technical and hands on experience related to firewall engineering, WAF management, and general networking including zero trust frameworks. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or related field (or equivalent experience). One to five years of experience creating, reviewing, implementing and managing firewall policy configurations on Palo Alto Firewalls. Operational experience with Microsoft Entra. Proven experience managing WAF technologies (IE Imperva, Cloudflare, F5 ASM, etc). Operational experience in NIA/NPA, ZIA/ZPA or similar SSE technologies. Experience working with internet, web, application and network security techniques. Experience with industry standard scripting languages. Familiarity with the OSI model, TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, TLS, routing protocols, and networking troubleshooting tools and techniques in both data center and cloud environments. Experience working with federal regulations related to information security (FISMA, Computer security Act, HIPPA, MARS-E, GCC etc.). Relevant Certifications a plus (PCNSE, CCNP, ZCE, CISSP, etc.). The pay range for this position is $76,100.00 - $108,700.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
