Job description: Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in an afterschool setting. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Programs include various indoor and outdoor hands-on academic and enrichment activities including but not limited to Dance, Chess, Robotics, Gardening, Math Camp, and Sports. Program hours for elementary campuses are 3:00 - 6:00 PM and program hours for secondary campuses are 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency)
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by employee
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
Working with students
Strong behavior management
Classroom lesson Planning
Experience teaming
Ability to multi-task
Experience:
Experience working with school based personnel, community groups, and or youth groups

Qualities of an Effective Afterschool Instructor
The instructor exhibits the following qualities:
Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
Comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
Comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, and standards.
