Providing an essential link between the organ donation agency (Trillium Gift of Life), the transplant recipient, surgical team and hospital services, the MOTC reviews and presents organ offers to the transplant teams, managing the processes through to retrieval and transplantation. Duties The principal responsibilities include: • Utilizing and applying specialized clinical knowledge and expertise to provide, manage, coordinate and facilitate continuity in patient care management for patients being called in for organ transplantation. This requires a high degree of clinical knowledge, complex problem solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities within intense and challenging clinical and organizational situations. • The MOTC also engages in teaching/education initiatives, supports continuous quality improvement activities; to participate in academic and research activities/projects • Performs administrative responsibilities; and performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested. Qualifications • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario • Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and other organizations relevant to the role • Bachelors Degree in Nursing • Current BCLS • Three (3) years of Transplant Nursing experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities • Effective teaching skills with the ability to teach on-on-one and/or groups • Demonstrated awareness of and adherence to professional and ethical standards required • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills • Excellent organization, prioritization and time management skills • Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem solving • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills • Commitment to collaborative practice • Ability to work effectively independently and under stressful conditions • Ability to utilize information technology • Ability to work independently and as a team member • Advanced accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality outcomes while meeting deadlines • Exercise initiative and good judgment • Flexibility is required to work all shifts The MOTCs form an efficient and dedicated team committed to high standards of patient safety and care.
