Overview:
The Power BI Data Reporting Specialist will support the Corporate Services division at M&T Bank. They will coordinate components of the data program for Corporate Services business teams in the areas of governance, quality, issue management, reporting, data architecture, solutions, analytics, or project management, and help to establish appropriate policies and frameworks for the function with minimal oversight from management and the overall Enterprise Data Management Program.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist in managing the implementation of the Data Management Program within Corporate Services, providing training to business line and technology personnel.
• Participate in facilitating data management-related working groups by creating agendas and meeting materials.
• Develop an understanding of data management practices.
• Participate in measuring compliance with the business and Enterprise Data Management policy and standards for assigned units.
• Work with assigned units to identify critical data elements and capture related metadata.
• Monitor quality of data within assigned units, through measurement of enterprise-wide key performance/key risk indicators (KPIs/KRIs) to ensure effective data risk management.
• Work to remediate data management-related issues within assigned unit.
• Showcase the benefits of business and enterprise data management and business intelligence tools.
• Analyze data sets to derive business insights to derive tangible business value.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated analytical ability
• Creative problem solving skills
• Project management experience
• Prior experience coordinating cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, graphing, and presentations with a working knowledge of financial models
Education and Experience Preferred:
• Master’s Degree
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience
• Knowledge of data management practices and/or Bank products, systems and workflows
• Knowledge of process improvement methodology and business process management techniques
• Proficient in pertinent project and presentation software
• Basic SQL programming knowledge
• Data visualizations/reporting with Tableau, QlikSense, PowerBI (Business Intelligence) or similar
• Knowledge of BI reports and dashboards and ability to design or update reports to meet the needs of business teams
• Experience working in an Agile environment
