Mobile Engineer - Latin America

Remote Full-time
About Proton.ai Proton.ai is transforming the $7 trillion wholesale distribution industry with machine learning. Distributors are at the heart of the global economy, but they face enormous complexity: massive catalogs, unique customer needs, and outdated tooling. We simplify this with AI-powered sales enablement tools that help distributors grow by predicting what their customers will buy. We’re in hyper-growth mode — backed by Felicis Ventures and Battery Ventures (investors in Shopify, Twitch, and Gong) — and are looking for passionate builders to join our mission. The Role We’re looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer with deep experience in React Native and React to drive the development of our Android and iOS apps. We use Expo SDK and EAS for convenience in builds and deployments, but you won’t be constrained by the Expo ecosystem. You’ll be part of a cross-functional squad that includes product managers, designers, QA, and engineers. You’ll own features end-to-end — from shaping ideas to deploying them in the App Store and Google Play — helping field sales reps in distribution work faster and smarter. You’ll also contribute to the technical foundation of our mobile platform, collaborate with data scientists to surface intelligent recommendations, and bring delightful mobile experiences to life using Material Design principles. The target salary range for this role is $60,000 - $90,000. Final offers will be based on your skills and previous experience. Proton collaborates with Oyster HR to hire international employees as full time (long term) contractors within our company. For collaboration purposes, all hires based in Europe or India are expected to be available for meetings from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST (Eastern Standard Time). Candidates located in Latin America are expected to work standard EST business hours on a daily basis. What You’ll Do Own end-to-end development for key features — from writing and refining tickets to deployment and monitoring. Collaborate closely with PMs, designers, and engineers in a squad model to scope, build, and iterate on features. Contribute to our sustainable testing strategy Use React Native to develop performant, scalable mobile experiences. Work alongside QA to ensure high-quality releases to App Store and Google Play, handling release processes and debugging when needed. Write engineering tickets for technical tasks, bug fixes, or improvements, and contribute to agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, retros). Participate in 2-week sprint cycles, including daily standups, and collaborative reviews. Work with TypeScript and share patterns and best practices with your team. Required Experience 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in React Native. Strong knowledge of React, TypeScript, and mobile architecture patterns. A product mindset: you think about users, edge cases, and quality — not just code. Experience deploying to both the App Store and Google Play Store. A self-directed, autonomous work style — you take ownership and follow through. Experience that may be helpful Experience with Material Design. Familiarity with or willingness to learn Expo SDK and EAS (We leverage it for over-the-air updates, test builds, and app store deployments) Familiarity with end-to-end testing frameworks and test automation strategies. Benefits Competitive Salaries + Company Stock Options - we want to pay you well (and equitably!) and make you feel like an owner. Flexible Schedule - we think high levels of autonomy, responsibility and working asynchronously foster an amazing workplace. Unlimited PTO + 10 Company Paid Holidays - we even have tools implemented to detect burnout to make sure folks recharge regularly. 12 Weeks Fully Paid Parental Leave - that goes for primary and secondary caregivers; even if you’re adopting or fostering!
