About the Role: This is a full-time Mid/Senior Machine Learning and Prompt Engineer role based in Zurich (remote). The role involves designing and optimizing machine learning models, fine-tuning large language models, developing complex prompts, and experimenting with innovative AI techniques. Responsibilities also include researching advancements in AI, managing/collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the scalability and ethical deployment of AI solutions. About us: Data Phant is a startup founded in 2022 and based in Switzerland. Our mission is to help other companies become as efficient as possible using Artificial Intelligence. We build custom AI models, fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs), enhance chatbots with new capabilities as well as AI-powered data analysis pipelines helping customers achieve their peak productivity. Note: The offered salary, which is above the current market value, will depend on your experience and proven skills during the interviews. Responsibilities: • Brainstorm and architect the most appropriate LLMs prompts / Agents / ML models to solve technical and impactful problems. • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand proposed use cases and translate them into scalable technical specifications for machine learning projects. • Analyze and prepare data for modeling, including developing and validating proofs of concept (PoCs). • Design and implement machine learning models, iteratively refining them to meet high standards of production performance. • Build robust, automated data pipelines to ingest and process structured and unstructured data from various sources. • Document both the implemented machine learning models and data pipelines for clarity and long-term maintainability. Ideal Background: • 4+ years of experience in a similar role. • You are a highly independent professional and are able to drive projects with minimal supervision. • You have successfully managed Junior engineers (task planning, supervision, …) and work well in teams. • Proven professional track‑record of data analysis, data cleaning, advanced LLM prompting, NLP and model development. • Proven experience with Agentic AI workflows - e.g. Google ADK. • Extensive experience with software development in Python. • Experience with database languages like SQL and commonly used Python libraries like Pandas and Tensor Flow. • Fluency in English. This is a remote position. However, only candidates who are based in Switzerland (ideally near Zürich) with a valid work permit will be considered.
