Job Summary We're seeking a highly motivated and organized Middle School Assistant Cook to join our nutrition services team at New Ulm Middle School (Grades 5-8). As an Assistant Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to our students, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and providing exceptional customer service to our students and staff. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and cook meals for students, following recipes and nutrition guidelines Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards Provide exceptional customer service to students and staff, responding to their needs and concerns Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service Assist with inventory management, receiving, and storing food and supplies Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance culinary skills and knowledge Requirements and Qualifications: Essential Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required Previous experience in food service, cooking, or a related field preferred Ability to work effectively with children and provide excellent customer service Basic math skills, including calculating quantities and managing inventory Strong communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a school setting or with children Familiarity with nutrition guidelines and meal planning principles Culinary skills, such as food preparation and cooking techniques Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods Skills and Competencies: To succeed in this role, you will need: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing priorities and needs Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At New Ulm Public Schools, we're committed to supporting the growth and development of our team members.
