We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy (MGLVA), a Stride K12 partner school. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, personalized education to students with special needs, and helping them achieve their full potential.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a state-certified Special Education Teacher to work with students in an online environment, providing instruction, support, and guidance to ensure their success. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for special education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specific course content in an online environment, tailored to meet the individual needs of students with special needs
Develop and implement compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), progress reports, and other state-specific required special education documentation
Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure students receive the appropriate therapies and support
Facilitate collaborative special education meetings, such as annual IEP meetings
Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities
Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals and objectives
Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
Demonstrate a commitment to personalizing learning for all students and establishing positive relationships with families
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and active state special education teaching license
Ability to clear required background check
Endorsement in Special Education
Residency in Michigan
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and interpret student data to drive instructional decisions
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
