Medical Insurance/Denials Specialist -Work from home (must reside in Texas)

A privately owned receivables management company formed in 1983 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, is seeking an Insurance Follow-up Specialist with experience. Job Description Candidate is responsible for following up directly with commercial and governmental payers to resolve medical claim issues, secure appropriate, and timely reimbursement. Responsibilities • Initiates insurance follow up on aged, unresolved claims to ensure maximum reimbursement • Submits appeals and reconsiderations on claim rejections, underpayments, and denials • Engages the coding follow-up team for any medical necessity or coding related appeals • Sets follow-up activities based on status of the claim • Communicates identified payer trends such as denials for specific procedure, diagnosis codes, or other identified issues • Other duties as assigned Qualifications • Must reside in Texas • Four years relevant experience in medical collections • Experience with Epic, Meditech, or Ace preferred • An understanding of revenue cycle • Demonstrate problem solving ability/analytical skills • Organized and detail oriented • Basic Microsoft Excel knowledge • Typing speed: 45+ WPM • US work authorization (required) • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen as permitted by law Performance Expectations • Maintain professional, courteous treatment of clients, co-workers, and consumers • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with management, subordinates, and clients to promote a positive company image • Meet FMA’s standards for attendance and promptness • A strong sense of teamwork and cooperation with management and co-workers Schedule • Part-time position • Full- time position Education • High school or equivalent (preferred) Benefits • 401k (with employer matching for part-time employees) • Additional benefits for full-time employees Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $20.00 per hour Benefits: • 401(k) • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Life insurance • Paid time off • Vision insurance Application Question(s): • Do you live in Texas?
