Position Overview:
As a Medical Coding Trainer, you will play a key role in educating and mentoring medical coders to ensure compliance with government and industry standards. Your expertise will enhance coding accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory adherence within the military healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on training and educational sessions on medical coding practices and procedures
Ensure compliance with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines
Conduct coding audits and feedback sessions to enhance accuracy and efficiency
Stay up to date with regulatory changes and industry best practices
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize documentation and coding accuracy
Qualifications:
Certification: Must possess one of the following medical coding certifications:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) - AAPC
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - AHIMA
Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-Based (CCS-P) - AHIMA
Experience: Minimum of two years of medical coding experience with at least one year in a training or auditing role
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and medical documentation requirements
Skills: Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills with the ability to mentor and educate coding professionals
