Job Description: Medical Coder Ā– Risk Adjustment CONTRACT!!

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder specializing in Risk Adjustment and ICD-10-CM diagnostic coding. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reviewing medical records, identifying chronic conditions, and coding according to industry guidelines to ensure accurate and compliant documentation.

Responsibilities:
Ā• Review medical records to identify and validate Risk Adjustment conditions and chronic conditions.
Ā• Accurately apply ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes following the latest coding guidelines and standards.
Ā• Search for medical records within an EHR interface and document findings with precision.
Ā• Identify and code social determinants of health (SDOH) in accordance with ICD-10 guidelines.
Ā• Maintain organized and accurate spreadsheets of coding findings, including detailed notes on any unique or complex cases requiring additional review.
Ā• Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA privacy guidelines and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive patient data.
Ā• Stay updated on current ICD-10-CM guidelines, AHA Coding Clinics, and regulations related to Risk Adjustment and HCC coding.

Qualifications:
Ā• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) credential from the AAPC.
Ā• 3Ā–4 years of hands-on experience in ICD-10-CM diagnostic coding, with a preference for experience in Risk Adjustment or HCC coding.
Ā• Strong familiarity with EHR systems and tools for medical record review.
Ā• Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10 coding guidelines and the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
Ā• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.

Preferred Experience:
Ā• Direct experience working with Risk Adjustment models and coding for Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC).
Ā• Background in analyzing social determinants of health (SDOH) for coding purposes.
