Medical Billing Assistant

Virtual Rockstar is looking for a Medical Billing Assistant to join a compassionate and dedicated pediatric therapy team based in Hawaii. Responsibilities You’ll work closely with the in-house billing team and help manage the day-to-day billing and administrative operations, including: Billing & Insurance Support Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations Submit insurance claims and follow up on unpaid claims Post payments to patient accounts and resolve billing discrepancies Review and appeal denied claims Generate billing reports for internal use Ensure compliance with billing and coding regulations Credentialing & Authorizations Assist with provider credentialing with insurance companies Maintain up-to-date credentialing documentation and timelines Administrative & Patient Support Manage therapist schedules and coordinate patient appointments Confirm appointments and send reminders Maintain electronic medical records and update patient files Handle appointment rescheduling and maintain waitlists Answer calls and handle patient inquiries (email/phone) Manage referrals and send personalized communications Explain insurance benefits to families and assist with related questions Documentation & Reporting Prepare insurance and billing documentation Handle email correspondence and basic reporting Support data entry and invoice generation Requirements Experience with medical billing and insurance processes Familiarity with pediatric or therapy-based practices a plus Excellent verbal and written communication skills Highly organized and self-motivated Comfortable working independently in a remote environment Helpful Tools to Know: Fusion EMR Google Workspace Microsoft Office Google Chrome Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
