Description The Medical Advisor is a field-based healthcare professional with advanced clinical, scientific, and therapeutic expertise in infectious diseases, microbiology, and/or acute care who provides strategic medical and scientific guidance for the company’s diagnostic products, ensuring clinical accuracy and strategic alignment throughout the entire product lifecycle, As the primary scientific and clinical point of contact in the US for assigned products, the Medical Advisor collaborates closely with cross-functional stakeholders to: • Guide medical strategy and support evidence generation • Shape and execute strategic plans through scientific exchange and educational initiatives • Deliver responsive customer and medical information support, including addressing medical information requests • Gather, analyze, and communicate actionable medical insights to inform product development and improvement By integrating clinical and scientific expertise with business objectives, and through cross-stakeholder collaboration, expert engagement, and compliance oversight, the Medical Advisor strengthens the company’s credibility and ensures that products meet the evolving needs of healthcare professionals, patients, and regulatory standards. Primary Duties • Serve as the primary medical and scientific expert for commercialized diagnostic products across infectious diseases, microbiology, and acute care. Result: Ensure accurate, evidence-based guidance that supports product credibility and clinical adoption. • Lead evidence generation initiatives by organizing advisory boards, reviewing protocols, and supporting clinical studies. Result: Produce high-quality clinical evidence that highlights product performance in a variety of settings and informs medical, commercial and government affairs & market access strategies. • Provide strategic medical guidance throughout the product lifecycle to internal and external stakeholders. Result: Align product development and commercialization with clinical needs and best practices. • Shape and influence medical strategy by monitoring industry trends, competitor activities, and evolving clinical guidelines. Result: Position the company as a leader in diagnostic innovation. • Build and maintain expert networks with key opinion leaders, clinicians, and specialists to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange. Result: Strengthen relationships that drive advocacy, collaboration, and trust. • Champion scientific integrity and regulatory compliance in all medical and promotional materials. Result: Ensure all communications meet ethical, regulatory, and scientific standards, reducing compliance risk. • Develop and deliver medical education programs for healthcare professionals and decision-makers on diagnostic technologies and clinical applications. Result: Increase understanding and adoption of diagnostic technologies among key stakeholders. • Train internal teams on product benefits, limitations, and clinical applications to ensure accurate and effective communication. Result: Equip commercial teams with accurate, clinically relevant knowledge to support effective customer engagement. • Engage with professional societies and advocacy groups to contribute to guideline development and collaborative research. Result: Enhance company visibility and influence in shaping diagnostic standards and policies. • Communicate actionable insights from research and stakeholder feedback to leadership and cross-functional teams. Result: Inform strategic decisions that align with market needs and clinical trends. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scientific claims are accurate, well-supported, and aligned with current research. Result: Guarantee accuracy and credibility of product messaging across all channels. • Monitor and interpret scientific literature to keep the organization informed of emerging trends and best practices. Result: Ensure strategies and communications reflect the latest scientific advancements and guidelines. • Respond to unsolicited medical information requests with balanced, evidence-based data in compliance with regulations. Result: Provide timely, compliant, and balanced information to maintain trust and transparency. • Analyze clinician feedback and clinical data to inform product improvements and development priorities. Result: Drive enhancements that improve diagnostic accuracy and user experience. • Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards. Perform other duties as assigned. • Experience • Bachelor's degree in health sciences or related field required • Advanced degree in health sciences area (PhD, Physician, PharmD or equivalent) with Therapeutic specialization or Board Certification strongly preferred • Current licensed practitioner in state of residence preferred • 2+ years clinical experience in the diagnosis and/or management of the relevant therapeutic area (eg., infectious disease, critical care medicine, clinical microbiology) • Experience with pharma/IVD industry preferred • Excellent knowledge of hospital/clinical/medical issues and environment Strong knowledge of diagnostic technologies and clinical laboratory practices is highly desirable • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Technical skills with mastery level commensurate to the job level, marked by specialization and innovation in the field of work. • Technical learning aptitude to quickly understand and acquire new technical knowledge and skills. • Flexibility, being highly adaptable and resilient to thrive in a dynamic work environment. • Effective and efficient problem analysis that leads to high-quality decisions. • Learning agility to be able to learn from experiences and apply that knowledge to new situations. • Problem solving to find solutions to complex business challenges. • Critical thinking, using logic and reason to analyze information and make decisions in the workplace. • Manage and meet competing deadlines, requiring careful prioritization and time management to ensure all tasks are completed on time. • Detail orientation to complete tasks without errors and produce high-quality work. • Analyze data and make decisions/recommendations, using data to guide decision-making and provide suggestions for improvement. • Influence change using skills and relationships to persuade others to adopt new ideas, behaviors, or processes. • Effectively deal with ambiguity requiring adaptability, critical thinking, and proactive communication to navigate situations with limited details • Creativity in forming new ideas, solutions, and approaches to challenges; to think outside-the-box • Perspective to see the world from another person's viewpoint thus gaining new insights and finding creative solutions to challenges. Make timely decisions by quickly choosing effective solutions in high-pressure situations for optimal outcomes. • Domestic travel required 40% of time International travel required 10% of time The estimated salary range for this role is between $158,000 - $196,000. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
