QBE Insurance is seeking a Mechanical Breakdown Adjuster to adjudicate mechanical breakdown claims. This role involves answering inquiries from customers and repair facilities, determining claim validity, and ensuring cost-effective claims processing.ResponsibilitiesProvide timely, personalized and quality customer service to both internal and external customersDetermine validity and adequacy of dealer repair orders and loss reports, ensure parts and labor charges are accurate and reasonableEnter information into claims software to document claim and verify parts and labor pricing, and to adjust and settle claimsRespond to inquiries from customers according to the terms and conditions of the policyProvide accurate and timely information to internal and external stakeholders by utilizing subject matter expertise on policiesCollaborate with team by escalating issues to upper-level claims professionals to facilitate the accurate assessment of complex exposuresContribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value 'can do' people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and funSkillsUtilize standardized procedures in adjudicating mechanical breakdown claimsAnswer telephone calls from repair facilities and customers holding a service contract or policyDetermine if there is coverage in adjusting a claim by using and interpreting the terms and conditions of a service contract or policyEnsure the cost effectiveness of adjudicating a claim by negotiating parts and laborProvide timely, personalized and quality customer service to both internal and external customersDetermine validity and adequacy of dealer repair orders and loss reportsEnsure parts and labor charges are accurate and reasonableEnter information into claims software to document claim and verify parts and labor pricingRespond to inquiries from customers according to the terms and conditions of the policyProvide accurate and timely information to internal and external stakeholdersCollaborate with team by escalating issues to upper-level claims professionalsContribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectationsNational Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certificationA Claims Adjusters license from any stateMust be able to acquire state adjuster licenses for assigned statesBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Outlook, Word and ExcelWorking knowledge of mechanical failures and repairsBasic knowledge of material damage estimating processes, systems and requirementsBasic understanding of claims department processes and proceduresBasic understanding of insurance policy and contract languageBasic knowledge of claims legal regulations and processesSpanish or French speaking a plusSecondary school certificationValid Driver's LicenseBenefitsHybrid Working – a mix of working from home and in the office22 weeks of paid leave for family growth, with 12 weeks available to all parents on a gender-equal basisCompetitive 401(k) program with company match up to 8%Well-being program including holistic wellbeing coaching, gym membership, confidential counselling, financial and legal adviceTuition Reimbursement for professional certifications, and continuing educationEmployee Network and Community – QBE actively supports six Employee Networks, and many ways to give back to your communityCompany OverviewAt QBE we’re driven by our purpose of enabling a more resilient future.
