Market Researcher and Focus Group Moderator for Card and Board Games
I am a game designer working on a second card game and seeking an experienced market researcher and focus group moderator to help refine the game mechanics, aesthetics, and marketability. This role involves conducting market research to identify trends in the board and card game industry and organizing focus groups to gather insights from potential players.
My first game was designed, produced, and created by me. I think Im a little too close to everything and I really need insights to help understand the marketing of the first game and help me guide the construction of the second game. It has been difficult as there arent really any other games of this type yet, and I feel like Im missing some rather important insights.
Responsibilities:
Conduct market research to identify target demographics, trends, and opportunities in the card and board game market.
Develop and implement a focus group plan, including participant recruitment, question design, and moderation.
Facilitate online or in-person focus groups to gather feedback on gameplay, design, and engagement.
Analyze focus group results and provide actionable insights to improve the game.
Deliver a comprehensive report with recommendations based on findings.
Requirements:
Proven experience in market research, consumer insights, or focus group moderation, preferably within the board or card game industry.
Strong understanding of tabletop gaming trends and player behavior.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to recruit participants and run both online and in-person focus groups.
Experience creating detailed reports with actionable feedback.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with card and board game design.
Access to tools or platforms for online focus groups (e.g., Zoom, Miro).
