Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire 4 Classroom Aides. The Classroom Aide will assist teacher in all functions and duties related to the maintenance of a safe appropriate early childhood classroom and learning environment; deliver learning materials to parents, meet for home visits and conferences with families, conduct screenings and assessments with children; and assist in working with classroom families to support their participation in the Head Start program.

This is a hourly, non-benefited position. This position will work Monday - Friday 7:30am - 5:00pm; hours are typically 35-40 hours per week. This position will work out of 1135 Cimarron Dr., Lafayette, Colorado, 1575 Lehigh St., Boulder, Colorado, or 2675 Mapleton Ave. Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $19.46 Hourly

Examples of Duties


Participate in the lesson planning, teaching, and supervision of the classroom, and directing the class in the absence of the teacher
Participate in developmental screenings
Assist teacher, families and specialist if appropriate, in developing and implementing individual education plans for each child
Participate in lesson planning weekly
With teacher oversight, participate in completing Individual Child Profiles (Teaching Strategies GOLD on-line checkpoint assessment) for all children so that they are submitted with all information completed on time in November, February, and May
Participate in writing, or entering into online computer system, daily anecdotal notes of children's on-going progress as directed by the teacher. Ensure that work samples are up to date for all children
Provide families with information through phone calls, newsletters, and lesson plans, providing written and/or verbal translation as needed. Encourage families to participate in classroom activities, including home visits and parent-teacher conferences
Ensure completion of all home visits and conferences for your classroom with families to meet Head Start mandates; preparation for visits is supervised by the teacher
Attend and assist in Back to School Night, and other parent meetings or parent committees as requested
Daily paperwork (attendance, Record of Meals (ROMs)) is completed accurately. At end of month numbers are totaled and paperwork is ready for pick up on time monthly
Assist with classroom preparation, storage, cleanup and minor maintenance, following the daily and weekly cleaning protocols, and other duties as assigned
Attend program in-services, pertinent community conferences and workshops and obtain at least 15 early childhood education related training hours, to foster professional growth
Attend other required meetings and trainings as directed by Support Service Manager
Maintain Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP), anti-bias and Dual Language Learners (DLL) environment which reflects Best Practice for an early learning environment
Maintain clean, organized and professional classrooms, offices, and storage spaces
Support site level needs as requested by Education Manager, this includes kitchen duties as requested to ensure program operations when staff absences arise
Performs related work, as required
May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:


Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical
Must have CPR/First Aid certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Acquire and Maintain TS GOLD Inner Rater Reliability
One year (1,820 hours) of verified experience with preschool children
A current CDA (Child Development Associate) or willing to enroll in a CDA program, upon hire, to be completed within 1 year.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Ability to use a computer with basic skills in Microsoft Office Products and internet-based assessment system or willingness to learn
Ability to work as a part of a team, channeling communications appropriately
Ability to relate well to children and adults from diverse backgrounds
Professional work ethics, including an understanding of confidentiality
