Under the supervision of the Program Administrator, the Clinical Adjunct provides clinical instruction to students and assists with the administration of the clinical facility.

Examples of Duties


Provides clinical instruction to students and assists in the administration of the clinical facility.
Supervises and operates various instructional equipment and tools; provides instructional demonstrations on mechanical machinery or other equipment as appropriate.
Participate in systematic program evaluation.
Assists in training and calibration of new faculty and clinical protocols and in the use and assembly of equipment.
Acts as an advisor and counselor to students; provides individual tutoring to students outside the classroom as needed; participates in student recruitment efforts.
Participates in curriculum development, evaluation, and change; ensures that the curriculum contributes to developing skills, knowledge, and abilities, which prepares students for selected vocations.
Attends faculty and staff meetings required inside and outside the Dental Hygiene Department.
Maintains accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintains other records and databases according to program needs.
Stays abreast of new developments and changes in various assigned academic fields; participates in staff development programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education as appropriate.
Maintains licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist or Dentist as indicated by the North Carolina State Dental Laws.
Oversees the implementation of policies and procedures related to the required teaching content area.
Participates on college committees and in other institutional activities.
Reviews available instructional materials; estimates time, materials, and equipment required for various assignments; submits requests for materials, supplies, and equipment to the Program Administrator and through appropriate resources.
Participates in Dental Hygiene Advisory Committee meetings.
Performs related duties and responsibilities as required or upon request from the Dental Hygiene Program Administrator.

Minimum/Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Evidence of academic preparation consistent with the Commission on Dental Accreditation standards. Minimum of two calendar years' experience in the clinical practice of dental hygiene.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor or higher in Dental Hygiene. Teaching experiences in dental hygiene at or above the program level and experience in course development are preferred.

Note: Current dental or dental hygiene license to practice in the United States or must be eligible for a North Carolina license to practice dentistry or dental hygiene.
